Something that we’ve mentioned on several previous blog posts is the realization that Kansas City is home to hard water. While you are still safe to drink and wash with hard water, that’s not to say there aren’t any downsides to it. From dryer skin/hair to the need for more detergent with laundry and so on, hard water can be rather frustrating at times. With that being the case, it’s no surprise that water softeners have continued to be quite popular amongst Kansas City homeowners. Just off personal experience, water softeners and hard water are two things that seem to consistently be in our regular vocabulary!

When it comes to alleviating some of the negatives associated with hard water, homeowners have a couple of options at their disposal. First off, you can go with the traditional salt-based water softener systems. How a salt-based water softener works is rather straightforward. In essence, hard water contains a higher mineral content, largely in the form of calcium and magnesium. A salt-based water softener system contains resin beads that attract these hard minerals, thus allowing for soft water to be used by the homeowner. Then, through a process called regeneration, the hard minerals are removed from the tank to allow for the system to continue performing its normal responsibilities. The primary maintenance task involved with these salt-based systems is going to revolve around filling it up with salt as-needed. These continue to be a popular option for homeowners looking to treat some of the adverse effects of hard water. After all, they’ve consistently been proven to be a reliable solution and it’s no surprise why there are several different types of systems out there to pick from!

That leads us into the primary topic of this week’s blog post. For those of you who are looking for an alternative to these traditional salt-based systems, there is also NuvoH2O, which utilizes a citrus-based technology. If you follow us on Facebook or Instagram, chances are you may have seen a few previous NuvoH2O installations that our team has worked on. Over the past few years, we’ve had the opportunity to install several across the Kansas City area and feel confident recommending them to our clients!

Advantages of NuvoH2O Systems

As briefly mentioned above, in this week’s blog post, we’re going to take a look at why NuvoH2O’s citrus-based water softener systems have become quite popular. Here are a few of the reasons as to why they’ve grown into such a fan favorite!

Low Maintenance – No matter if it be in a residential or commercial setting, maintaining your plumbing system is going to be extremely impactful in ensuring you get the best return on your investment. This is true for your water heater, faucets, showerheads and so on! As such, I think most homeowners would agree with me that you would prefer your plumbing system to be as low maintenance as possible, right? After all, the last thing you want to be doing on your weekends or evenings is taking care of plumbing maintenance tasks!

With NuvoH2O systems, the maintenance is extremely easy! In fact, all you basically have to do is replace a cartridge. That’s it! If you don’t feel comfortable doing this on your own, you can always give us a call and we’ll have someone take care of it with a short service call. All in all though, you can rest assured knowing maintenance is quick and easy with NuvoH2O!

Saves Space – While your goal with most plumbing components is always going to be effectiveness and ensuring the products successfully complete their primary purpose, aesthetics can play a role in the purchasing process too. We’ve previously discussed this topic in regards to how appearance is important when buying a new faucet. Well…in terms of water softeners systems, NuvoH2O offers a couple advantages on this point. For one, you’ll notice that NuvoH2O systems are attached to the wall, thus saving space (similar to the benefit that we’ve referenced before with tankless water heaters). Although they’re typically installed in an unfinished part of the basement, the opportunity to save a little space can definitely come in handy. Secondly, you’ll also notice they have an aesthetically-pleasing design. Obviously, that’s not going to make or break your decision, but it definitely doesn’t hurt either!

Proven Results – As is the case with any household improvement or new installation, you’re going to want something that works. That’s a no brainer, right? With a proven track record, homeowners can feel confident that their hard water issues will be a thing of the past with NuvoH2O. We’ve highlighted a couple of unique advantages above and will discuss in the next section how their various product offerings allow homeowners to select a system that makes best sense for their individual situation. In terms of proven results, they had an independent study conducted and the results backed up their products, as well as showing their systems were effective at preventing scale build-up (which is obviously one of the more troublesome consequences of hard water). If you’re interested in learning about their systems, we encourage you to check out this page on their website HERE. It goes into more detail about the various benefits provided, in addition to mentioning their proprietary formula called CitraCharge. Before we move on, it’s also important to note that NuvoH2O’s systems have the ability to lower the PH level of water inside your home and even help eliminate existing scale buildup that may already be present.

Different Systems Available – With any type of plumbing component, it never hurts to have different options to pick from. If you’ve recently gone faucet shopping, you would know this is true as you likely had no trouble finding a style or finish that blended in seamlessly with the rest of your bathroom or kitchen where the faucet would be installed. Following a similar theme, NuvoH2O has done a tremendous job at presenting homeowners with a few different systems to pick from. One variable in which these systems are separated is based on home size to ensure it’s big enough to handle the water usage for your household’s size. A second variable amongst their products is the option for having a filtration system included as well. The ability to remove unwanted contaminants from your drinking water is obviously a major plus for many homeowners. These systems that include both their “Taste Filter” and the water softener cartridge have been extremely popular amongst our customers. Furthermore, the team at NuvoH2O has also shown a willingness to expand their products as well, which includes a system that has multiple filter cartridges to pick from (such as sediment filter, carbon filter, iron filter and chloramine filter).
